Beginnings:
I started in midwifery in 1987 and have been doing it as a ministry for 16 years. I have always believed it to be a blessing to be invited to a birth, and feel honored to be in attendance. I strive to never take home birthing for granted simply because I am a midwife. God has blessed me with a ministry in order to bless others with the gift of a home birth.
Beliefs:
Birth is a reflection of the Lord, and I want to honor the Holy Spirit and be sensitive at each birth as to what direction that the Lord wants it to go. I am in continuous prayer with each pregnancy, labor, and delivery. Because I believe prayer is important at a birth, I have an assistant who is my armor bearer and prayer support. I believe that being a Christian midwife and having a ministry that is used at the most critical time in a new life's arrival must be supported with prayer.
If the Lord wanted birth to be a highly complicated process, he would of created many more to attend Adam and Eve while they proceeded to populate the earth. Instead, He made it a simple and loving occasion shared between husband and wife and whom ever they invite to attend.
Experiences/Resources:
I have never missed a birth and I never schedule other events while one of my mothers is due. I honor my commitment when I say that I am available, and make sure that you feel comfortable in knowing where I am when you are close to your due date. My husband and family support this ministry, and always look forward to meeting the new families that come to us for a home birth.
I have been blessed to catch twins with no complications, being 4 days shy of their due date and weighing 9.2 and 7.1! Both are healthy and full of energy. As a trained EMT, I carry supplies with me to each birth for that "just in case" scenario, which ~Praise God has not happened. I am a certified CPR instructor, have taught emergency medical classes, and also teach childbirth classes. I have an extensive lending library for my clients to utilize.
Our Meeting:
I conduct the first meeting to welcome the opportunity to visit with interested families who desire a home birth. I always encourage new potential clients to pray after we meet and go with the Lord's leading as to what He would have them do. It makes for an awesome opportunity and an incredible birth experience when you are in God's will.
